University of Waikato

Located in Hamilton City, the University of Waikato is committed to offering a study experience that allows its students to achieve their fullest potential. Quality teaching and research is complemented by work placements and internships, preparing graduates for their future careers. Emphasis is placed on providing student support when needed, in an environment that welcomes students from a wide variety of backgrounds. The University offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate study options in business and management, computer science, information technology, engineering, science, arts, social science, education, and law. In 2022 the University launched a Bachelor of Climate Change, the first degree of its kind in the world.

Wintec

Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec), part of Te Pūkenga, has thousands of students across three main Hamilton campuses and other facilities located in Thames and Ōtorohanga. Wintec is one of New Zealand’s largest and leading Institutes of Technology, and has more than 90 years of experience in building skills and knowledge through applied learning. The special support it provides to international students has been acknowledged with an outstanding achievement award at the Institutes of Technology New Zealand annual awards.

Private Training Establishments

The Waikato is home to leading private training establishments (PTEs) that are diverse in their scale of operation, location, culture and areas of educational expertise. This enables them to respond to the broad range of needs of students, industry, employers and communities. Our PTEs offer courses from foundation to postgraduate levels and are well connected with local industry.
