How do you interact with kindness in your life?
Creative Acts of Kindness is a brand new project from Creative Waikato empowering local artists to celebrate kindness through commissioned works presented as either: A 90 Second Video, or a Digital Poster.
There’s a total of 40 paid opportunities from $500-$1000 for emerging & established Waikato artists to create mahi under this project - and proposal submissions are open now until 18th July.
The brief - Through the lens of your arts practice - What does kindness mean to you? Individually. Culturally. Socially. How do you interpret kindness and how does kindness show up in your life?
Creative Acts of Kindness seeks a wealth of perspectives and a vast range of expressions that showcase diverse talents from all corners of the mighty Waikato region.
However you create - dance, song, spoken word, visual or moving images, collage, photography, design, drama, movement & more - this is an opportunity to share an act of kindness and capture it digitally.
“We want to see creativity used as a force for social good,” shares Creative Waikato CEO, Dr Jeremy Mayall. “And the way that we do that is by celebrating the strengths of our community.”
Emerging as a response to online negativity, the project aims to flood the digital space with diverse examples of kindness. Prompting the general public to consider how they interact with kindness and how they can better imbed kindness into their community, whānau, friendships and mahi, using accessible and achievable daily actions.
The final works will launch for public viewing across the digital space in late August, and will be housed on a dedicated webpage through Creative Waikato’s kotahitangagallery.nz
At this stage, Creative Waikato are accepting proposals only, and submitting works already completed under this brief will not be commissioned.
